About Rangers
Welcome to Royal Rangers, an action-packed, life-changing ministry for children of all ages.
Founded over 25 years ago, Royal Rangers is a 'Scouting type organisation attached mainly to the Assemblies of God churches, and is part of the AOG Kids department. It caters for children and young teens (3 - 17yrs). We aim to encourage positive spiritual, social, mental and physical growth. This is important in the face of the many negative influences affecting young people today.
The Story
In the late 1950's early 1960's the A.O G churches in America were losing boys to other activities outside the church, the General
Council invited Pastor Johnny Barnes to come up with a programme that would not only keep the boys but also attract others and
challenge them with the good news of Jesus.
In 1962 Royal Rangers were born and spread rapidly throughout the U.S.A. to Australia ,Africa and then to the U.K. within the last
twelve years, Royal Rangers has been adopted as the official uniformed Youth Organisation of the European A.O.G. and has and still
is spreading in nearly all of the Continental Countries, it is the fastest growing youth organisation in Europe. Royal Rangers is now
operational in sixty four countries.
All Royal Ranger Outpost's locally and nationally are bound together with the universal emblem.
Each part has a meaning
The four gold points are the four ways a boy and girl grows Physically, Socially, Mentally and Spiritually.
The four red points are the four main teachings of the church, Salvation, Holy Spirit, Healing and Rapture.
There are eight blue points the points of the Royal Ranger Code - Alert, Clean, Honest, Courageous, Loyal, Courteous, Obedient and
Spiritual.
All these points are ringed in red, the crimson thread of redemption which runs throughout scripture the circle of white and gold
denotes God's purity and the hope of heaven, when we put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The objective of Royal Rangers is to Reach, Teach and Keep children for Jesus.
Whats different about it?
The difference between Royal Rangers and similar organisation is its emphasis on the spiritual side of life. We encourage the children to seriously think about their relationship with God. All of our activities, from camping to bible study, teach and re-inforce Christian values, which rarely get taught elsewhere.
Boys and girls begin their Royal Rangers adventure at age five in the Ranger Kids programme. A church may combine five-year-olds with six and seven-year olds or offer separate classes for each of the three age groups of Ranger Kids.
After a child completes Ranger Kids, they move into Discovery Rangers. This group is for children ages eight through ten. Commanders at this level who choose to include camping events can organise trips and begin to train the Rangers in camping skills. The programme offers many alternatives to Rangers or churches that choose not to camp.
Adventure Rangers is the programme for children ages eleven through thirteen. Expedition Rangers, with its many options, is the programme for youth ages fourteen through seventeen.
